Getting Down To The Brushed Gold Tacks : A Lesson In Reno Logistics

It’s been a hot minute – pretty much because we’ve been waiting. Waiting for the restoration crew to be done with bringing the house back down to studs, all sorts of other cleanup techniques, budget approvals, and the list goes on..

We’re *almost* at the fun part, so here’s a little sneak peak into where my mind’s been:
If I had to give a heads up to my past self RE: this project, it’d be to REST.

The one thing that I didn’t expect to be as overwhelming as it’s been is the pure, unadulterated fatigue that comes with deciding on every single finish and fixture for our entire house in no time flat.

And while yes, I realize that’s completely self inflicted – some people might open up Pinterest and go with the first thing they see.. that’s not me. But hey, more power to them!

Sadly, I’m a Leo cusp Virgo freak who insists on having the very best of everything in its category with an insatiable need for it all to match and flow and dare I say it, vibe (?!) together seamlessly. I can’t tell you how many hours of my life have been spent trying to match brushed gold finishes which is to say I’m one martini away from losing the plot, but I’m still convinced it’ll be worth it in the end. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The current laundry list of question marks that need answering looks something like this:

  • Vintage dresser for bathroom vanity, or matching shaker cabinets?
  • Marble tile for shower that doesn’t clash with the marble floor tile
  • Vanity counter stone – white quartz? Black forest to match the kitchen? DECISIONS!
  • Are brushed gold doorknobs *too* much? Sigh.

..And about a million other, more pressing things that come with the holiday season. On the bright side: we did get our trees up thanks to the help of a few friends! Maybe I’ll take a break from home content and make a post about that soon. To say the least: there are exactly zero green trees up and it looks MAGICAL. โœจ

And on that note:  a holiday gift from me to you. Go watch “The B*tch Who Stole Christmas”, RuPaul’s new movie, immediately! You’re welcome.
